my father's father

It was the time of my father's father
He told me 'bout it yesterday
Another age without much time
Much time for innocent play
He built the land that live in
His hands made the way
For my easy days

Doesn't seem so long ago
But time's have changed, he says
I think of what has gone before
My skyhigh income
My luxurious ways

So I work to make it better
I try to change the world
It doesn't seem so futile
When I hear the story
Of my father's father

May will have children in my time
My daughter's child with sparkling eyes
Crisp like a winter's morning
Warm like an outdoor fire
I love her now, I'll love her then
My song will make the way
For her easy days

It won't seem so long ago
But time's have changed, I say
He'll think of what has gone before
His laid-back lifestyle
His freedome to choose his own way

Why don't we ever include
Our present thoughts
In the history of man
